Geography, Master (Magister) Studium

A graduate is able to assess the landscape in its components, to work with the tools and models, to create the databases, to globally evaluate the changes in the regions of different scale, to run the field research and to analyze the situation in landscape management as well as in the administrative units. He/she is able to present the problems of landscape, seeking the ways to prevent the conflicts between the natural landscape and society. He/she can cooperate with a wide range of professionals, further educate themselves, pursue the innovations in Geography and Cartography, and continue in own professional advancement. He/she is able to communicate with the skilled professionals in the foreign language as well as they have the basic knowledge of management to run the team.

Students receive accommodation according to regulations passed by the University Administration of P.J. Šafárik University in Košice.

Applicant is accepted into the maste’s programme without an entrance exam, if the master programme is a acontinuation of the bachelor study programme in the same subject, and if the applicant passed a state examination with the required result equivalent to the state examinations of the bachelor study programme of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at UPJŠ. The standard study-period of the master study programme in that case is two years. If the applicants do not meet the criteria listed above, they can be accepted into the master’s programme on the basis of the results of an entrance exam. In that case, the standard study-period is two or three years. The standard study-period is decided on the basis of the results of the entrance exam and the relevance of the bachelor programme the applicant graduated in.

Foreign students are accepted on the basis of a contract.
